I was saved at the age of ten. It was something of quick inspiration when I told my parents that I wanted to be a pastor. I looked up to my pastor and I wanted to be a pastor just like he was. My pastor, Dr. Thomas Franklin, took me under his wing and became my mentor. It has been a great honor having him as my mentor. He taught me about pastoring, the good side, and the bad side. In 1998, I was called to the ministry. I was playing video games and I heard the voice of the Lord say, "Are you being an effective witness for me?" I paused and thought, "I have to be. I serve on the witnessing team at my church and I also am a member of the WFC, Witnesses for Christ." The Lord responded back, "Do you really want to be a leader of my people?" I answered, "Yes, Lord. I do." The Lord told me, "Preach my Word." I felt the presence of God so great that I began to cry and worship the Lord. After a few minutes, I ran and told my mother that the Lord had called me into the ministry. I was licensed as a minister by the Association of Apostolic Churches in June 1999. I am scheduled to be ordained as an Elder in 2006. Praise God, I've come this far by faith. When I am teased by other young people for being such a radical Christian, I never give up. My favorite scripture is Matthew 19:14, (NIrV), Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me. Don't keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them." I know that other young people and I are the future of this world. I want my mother and father to feel comfortable knowing that I will be in charge one day. |
